I have a visitor on Thursday. I'll be busy
working with him from 10:30 am through mid afternoon. If
you have questions please see me before 10:30 am or after
4:00 pm.
Exam #4 score and Final Exam scores are
available. I'll be working on grades for the next several
days. If you would like to look at your exams you are
welcome to drop by my office. You may pick up your exams
in August. I'll need to hold them over the summer.
Here is the current version of the Web Site Evaluation.
Please complete. Thanks. I really appreciate your
comments.

You've been studying hard all day here is a
present from dr. g....Exam IV and the Final from Fall 1999.
Use them as practice exams to see how you understand the
problems. Note there is a question on Exam IV which we
did not cover this semester (Lewis structures)
Here are the answers to our first exam, second exam and third exam this
semester.
Here are Exam IV and the Final from Fall 1998.
Here is a link to the energy level diagram
we used discussing electron configurations.
I've started working on generating the
video segments for Saturday's Help Session. I am
currently working on generating these videos so this page
will be changing all day today. I was able to get six of
the problems we discussed in the Help Session captured,
compressed and posted. Hope they can help.
I've encoded my discussion on how I predict your final grade which we discussed in class on Friday, April 7,
2000.
I have completed Real Audio files for two limiting reagent problems done in class
on Friday, March 31, 2000. These files will help if you
are having difficulty with limiting reagent problems on
the Problem Set. You may also look at the Lecture Notes from CHEM 1215 Fall 1999.
Here is the 'Award Ceremony' from
class on Friday, April 7, 2000.
I stopped by the 4th floor of the
Classroom Building to check out the computers. I learned
several things. First, take head phones. The computers in
the campus laboratories are not equiped with speakers.
Since the Real files I've prepared play sound you'll need
head phones. Second, you may have to install an updated
version of the Real player. Just follow the instructions
on the screen. If you have any problems check with the
laboratory monitor. Those of you with your own computers
with speakers, or access to same will be better off when
looking at these files. If you have problems in any
campus computer labs be sure to say something to the lab
monitor. If you do not tell the monitors what you need on
the computers to access class materials the computers
will not get upgraded!
Dr. G's new computer!
Check out the WebCam I set-up in my
office.
Check out the reaction between sodium and
chlorine. I'd like your
comments and any questions you might have. If anyone
comes up with some good suggestions and/or questions and
if the publisher pays me anything I'll treat the class to
something special.
CIS says if Quicktime is not on the
computer you are using to view a file containing a movie
that you can go to the Apple Web Site and download the
quicktime player. Here is the QuickTime download web site
link...
Anyone having problems viewing the
QuickTime Movies? Let me know. I checked the Library and
could not view the movies. I've talked to the technology
people about placing QuickTime for Windows on the systems
in the Library. I'll know in a day or if that is going to
be done.
On Friday, February 11, 2000 Nicole
Cosmann received the Oklahoma Association for
Environmental Education Outstanding College Student Award
for work she has done for the environment. Thanks Nicole,
and congratulations!
The grades link now includes scores of
three problem sets, two laboratory experiments and one
exam.
Laboratory this week is Hard Water and
Water Softening. This experiment was passed out in class
on Friday because it is not in your Laboratory Manual.
Please see Dr. G. before your laboratory if you did not
get a copy.
If you do not know the answer to any of
the self-test questions an acceptable response is 'I do
not know' (IDK).
PLEASE! I will not accept any late problem
sets. If your PS is not turned in at the beginning of
class it is late! If you turn your PS into the Chemistry
Office it is late and you will receive a 0 for that
problem set. It is a fairness issue. If everyone turns in
the PS on time I can not allow other students extra time
to complete their PS. If it is late you have taken extra
time. If anyone has any problem with this policy please
e-mail me.
If you can not make class (for whatever
reason) when a Problem Set is due I will accept it if you
mail it and the postmark is the day the problem set is
due or earlier. You are also welcome to FAX
(405-744-6007), but that can be expensive.
Need a periodic table? Check the Database
link. I recommend the WebElements Periodic Table.
The Chemistry Department offers free
tutoring in PS023. For a tentative schedule go to the
Free Tutoring link. The tutoring will begin Monday,
January 17, 2000. Names in red are our TA's and they will
know more about what is happening in our class. TA names
in blue have taught 1215 with me before.
Welcome to CHEM 1215. In order to post
grade information (scores on problem sets, laboratory's
and exams) I need your permission. Go the SID#/Name link
and enter a number, name or combination unique to you. I
will post grade information using your SID# or SIDName.
There are some additional questions that I would like you
to answer for some EXTRA CREDIT.
Our teaching assistants this semester are
James Greuel (401, 403 and 405), Dattatri Negesha (402,
404 and 406), and Joe Studer (407, 408 and 409).
