For next weeks laboratory (Experiment #9: Models and Molecules) you are to bring your textbook to laboratory. Be sure you understand the following concepts; valence electrons, Lewis structures (we'll do today), octet rule, exceptions to the octet rule, formal charge.
Problem Set #10 comments: in PS10.5 assume each substance is pure and in its standard state phase; in PS10.9 you are expected to indicate the formal charge on each atom in each resonance hybrid. When asked to indicate formal charge that implies on each atom.
Problem Set #10 will be due on Wednesday, November 19th. Answers will be posted after class.
