I have a few
answers for Exam IV F97 linked on the Exam page.
I'm out of the
office this afternoon (Monday, Dec 9th) from noon until...3 or 4. I will be
around after 4 and this evening to answer questions.
Andy has dropped
off labs and Homework for his students. You are welcome to drop by and pick
up your work, or you can get it at the final.
I have completed
Exam IV and I ended up with a few multiple choice questions. So be aware that
there are about 5 MC questions on Exam IV.
I have the video for the both hours of last night's HELP Session posted at the
QuickTime Video link.
OK New grades
are posted. At least all the grades I have so far. Several TA's have not given
me score for PS14 and 15 yet. Also several of the last laboratories have not
been received. I have graded the Calorimetry and Activities of Metals experiment.
The 4th Experiment is your score for the Activities of Metals lab. For Section
19 your first lab score is the Calorimetry lab. For sections 26, 27 and 29 it
is Laboratory 6. The TAs will complete their grading as quickly as their schedules
allow. I am working on the PLEs.

If you did the
Gas Law Simulation (this week or last week) I need you to complete a short
survey. It will only take 5 minutes.
If you have not checked out by the end of this week see the Freshman Storeroom
(PS242) as-soon-as-possible so you are not charged for checking out your locker.
I have a backup web site for our class at genchem1.chem.okstate.edu that MAY
be useful in the event that intro.chem.okstate.edu is down. IF
(and only if) intro is down, try genchem1.
Interested in
opportunities for summer programs for pre-medical students. Check out this information
I recently received from a former student.
Here is an interesting
periodic table.
Since I was
unable to videotape Friday's lecture I have reviewed my lectures from CHEM 1314
Fall 2000. There is a lecture on an introduction to VSEPR. Also PS13 has a question
on formal charge, which I have not discussed in class. Check your text, or check
out the lecture below.

Exam III Average
is 56. You continue to do better! Lindsay Breece scored a 93 for the high on
the exam! WAY TO GO LINDSAY! SWAG on Friday!
Curious about the chemistry associated with the colors of
leaves this time of year? Check out Dr. Shakhashiri's 'Chemical
of the Week' web site.
The current class average is 62.6%. This is very good. The
best class average is 65%.
Check out the link to the web site for our textbook (BLB).
The link is near the top of the left frame on our web site. Clicking on the
link will take you to a page with an image of our textbook. Near the top of
the page is a dropdown menu listing the Chapters in the text. Select a chapter
and a page will be loaded for that chapter that contains links to resources.
If you would like some practice problems try the Problem Soving Center. When
the Problem Center page is load scroll down to the red button under flexible
questions. Select the Homework link. This will generate a set of questions from
the chapter. You will need a calculator.
I've added a link to the Brown/LeMay/Bursten Web Site run by
Prentice-Hall. There are multiple choice 'quizzes' there that you can take to
see how well you understand many of the concepts we have covered in Chapter
1. You should also not that at least one of the movies we viewed in class on
Wednesday was from this site. That movie (the reaction of iron and sulfur) is
also located on the CD that came in your textbook. There are some additional
resources at the web site and on the CD that you may find useful.
Here is a very nice Periodic
Table that contains lots of physical properties and chemical properties
for the elements.
In order to post grade information (scores on problem sets,
laboratory's and exams) I need your permission. Go the SID#/Name link and enter
a number, name or combination unique to you. I will post grade information using
your SID# or SIDName. You do not HAVE to have an SID#/Name if you do not want
to. There are some additional questions that I would like you to answer for
some EXTRA CREDIT.
