CHEM 1014 Fall 1999
- We have all but half of one section graded
and the average score is 70. Not bad! If there was a
terrible page on the exam it was the last page of
problems. The average percentage on page 1 was 80%, on
page 2 was 75% and on page 3 was 39%. I expected the last
problem to be tough, we had just talk about that material
and I knew it would be hard (that is why it was only 9
points!). But the average performance on Problem 6 was a
big surprise! I thought that problem was going to be
easy! I recommend everyone look that question over before
going to laboratory this week. The discussion will follow
the same format as after our first exam. John or Randi
will go over the exam in detail. After discussing the
exam you will get an InClass Problem Set which will cover
some of the questions on the exam that students had
trouble with (hint, hint). You will work on the InClass
PS ON YOUR OWN! Go to the Exam link if you would like a
copy of the exam.
- Grades will be up Sunday (10 pm 'ish')
when all of the exams have been graded.
- It has been suggested that to view the
QuickTime movies, if your browser will not play them, to
right click on the quickTime icon and download the movie
and play it locally on your computer. Try that and see if
it works.
- Bring calculators to class AND laboratory
this week!!
- Here is the link to get the QuickTime (for
Mac or PC) plugin.

- Here are the movies I shot in class. If
you sit on the right (dr. g's), in the center or on the left maybe you are in the video!
- You will receive your Secret Idenification
Code Number (SIC#) in laboratory beginning Monday,
September 20, 1999. I will begin posting the grades which
I have from the TA's next week on our web site. Be sure
to check the magnitude of all your scores to be sure the
values I have agree with the values you have. If there
are ANY differences see your TA with the graded
assignment that was recorded incorrectly.
Need some Help with your chemistry? The
Chemistry Department offers free tutoring in PS023
(basement of Physical Sciences). Check the Free Tutoring
link on the left for the hours. Note that those TA's
teaching CHEM 1014 are identified with the blue color.
Don't forget my office hours are 2:30 - 3:20 pm on T and
R.
