Week of February 21 - 25, 2000 :Experiment #4: Separation of a Solid Mixture

Week of February 28 - March 3, 2000: Acidity and Alkalinity

In this experiment you will be testing the acidity and alkalinity of many common substances. We have discussed acids and bases already in lecture and I recommend you review pages 191 - 194 in your textbook. We have not discussed the concept of pH, but the introduction to the laboratory experiment provides a simple introduction to the concept. Our textbook introduces pH on page 518 - 524.

The experiment has five parts. Each part will be located at a station in the laboratory. You will need to be organized and prepared to complete this experiment in the time available. I have prepared what I hope will be of some assistance to you as you prepare for the experiment.
