Thank you for coming to the Institute.

Remember if anyone has some favorite web sites they would like to share with everyone, send them to me and I'll post them here.

We have 25 (possibly 26) teachers joining us next week. This is our largest group since we started the AP Chemistry Institute two years ago. So we are excited. Since we are larger than before I've asked Deborah Greear from Edmond North High School to join us as an instructor to-be. Deborah was a Reader this year and some of you may have met her at a 1 or 2-day AP Conference this past year.

The housing for those participants staying on campus will be in the new Jones suites. I've identified the location of Patchin-Jones Hall on the aerial map. Since the aerial picture is old there is a parking lot where the building is now located. The Patchin-Jones Hall is located just south of the Willham Hall housing high rise. The Willham complex is the west most high rise and Patchin-Jones is just south of Willham. The Jones part of Patchin-Jones is the north section. There is an entrance marked Jones Hall near the center of the building. When you arrive go to Jones Hall and check-in. You will receive your room assignment. I'm not exactly sure where the meals will be served but that information will be provided at check-in.

Monday morning we will meet in Ag Hall 202. Ag Hall is on Monroe west of the Physical Sciences building. (Check this link to the OSU interactive map or look at the aerial map.) You should note that Patchin-Jones Hall is NOT on this map. This building was completed this past fall and the interactive map has not been updated yet.

If you arrive on Sunday at or before 6:30 pm and would like to go to dinner to a local restaurant we will meet in the parking lot adjacent to the Physical Sciences building at 6:30 pm . Check out the aerial map for the location of the PS building.

Valerie and I have been working on the Schedule so there have been some minor modifications. One thing we've added are some evening activities (yes, you will still be able to get some sleep while you are here!).

Here is a Hello/Welcome letter that I've e-mailed (on June 22, 2001) to those participants that have given me e-mail addresses.

Participant Information is now available. Check out the link.

Here is video showing some of the AP Chemistry Institute in Tulsa on Thursday, June 8, 2000. To view this file you will need the latest version of the Basic RealPlayer from Real and a fast Internet connection. You may be able to view this file using a 56K modem, but it will be very slow and may not look great. Try viewing from your school or using a DSL or cable modem connection. If you have any problems contact Dr. Gelder.

If you would like to register for this Summer Institute please complete the ONLine Registration Form.

Check out the Organizations link for the College Board link. Useful information such as 2001 examination dates, an listserv for AP chemistry teachers, and new changes for the 2001 AP exam are provided.

During the week of July 9 - 13, 2001 we are also hosting an AP Institute for Calculus Teachers. Dr. James Choike (choike@okstate.edu), Professor of Mathematics at Oklahoma State University, has organized an AP Calculus A/B Institute. The Calculus Institute will be for new teachers. He has been in contact with J. T. Sutcliffe, from the St. Marks School in Dallas who will be the AP teacher teaching the institute. If you would, please share this information with an interested colleague.
