Chapter 11: Introduction to Modern Atomic Theory

Ultraviolet radiation has ranges of wavelength from 390 to 10 nm. UV radiation is absorbed by ozone (O3) in the upper atmosphere.

X-ray range from 1 nm to 0.1 nm.

Cosmic rays are smaller than 0.1 nm.

Modern chemistry uses mircowave, infrared, visible, ultraviolet and X-rays to probe chemical compounds to understand their structure and reactivity.
