An Introduction to Equilibrium and LeChatelier's Principle

This set of BCEs/DCIs and ACAs cover content from Unit 7. NOTE: Following our workshop on Saturday, November 18, 2020 I will modify permissions so you can download your copy of all of the Google forms and Google slides.

Type of Activity Type of file Link Description
Teacher's Guide pdf Teacher's Guide This document provides some guidance as to goals of the Shifting Reactions A, Shifting Reactions B and the Extent of Reaction activities. This document will be updated periodically.
Before Class Exploration Google Form BCE49 This BCE uses images and movies to introduce reversible and irreversible reactions. This would be the first activity to introduce the concept of chemical equilibrium.
Before Class Exploration Responses Google Sheet link to a Google Sheet for BCE49 This Google Sheet contains the Expert's Response to the questions in BCE49
During Class Invention Google Slide Shifting Reactions B This is a student activity that investigates a reaction (R(g) + BG(g) --> RG(g) + B(g)) and how changing concentration of reactants and/or products impact the concentration of the the other species in the reaction.
During Class Invention Google Sheet Shifting Reactions B Answers The Expert answers to Shifting Reactions B.
During Class Invention pdf Shifting Reactions B Answers The Expert answers to Shifting Reactions B. The Expert answers to the Shifting Reactions B Activity. These answers are to a slightly different Shifting Reactions B activity linked here
During Class Invention Google Slide Extent of a Reaction This is a student activity that investigates a series of experiments to collect data about the extent of the reaction. After watching one experiment, students are invited to make predictions about the extent of the reaction in a series of addition experiments. At the end students organize the results to identify a pattern that leads to inventing the concept of an equilibrium constant.
During Class Invention Google Slide Extent of a Reaction Answers The Expert answers to the Extent of a Reaction Activity.
During Class Invention pdf Extent of a Reaction Answers The Expert answers to the Extent of a Reaction Activity. These answers are to a slightly different Extent of Reaction activity linked here.
During Class Invention Google Slide LeChatelier's Principle: Temperature Change This google slides activity investigates how a change in temperature impacts an exothermic reaction at equilibrium.
During Class Invention Google Sheet LeChatelier's Principle: Temperature Change Answers This Google Slide contains the Expert's Response to the questions in LeChatelier's Principle: Temperature Change.
During Class Invention Google Slide LeChatelier's Principle: Pressure/Volume Change This google slides activity investigates how a change in pressure/volume impacts a reaction at equilibrium.
During Class Invention Responses Google Slide LeChatelier's Principle: Pressure/Volume Change Answer This Google Slide contains the Expert's Responses to the questions in DCI15.
