When you click on the chat link below you will be taken to the College of Arts and Sciences IChat page. On this page are a list of courses with chat rooms and two links; one to set up a new user the other to enter the chat site.

The first time you access this page you must log in as a new user, so click the new user link. On the new user page just complete the form and scroll to the bottom of the page to submit the information. There is some optional information that is requested, but if you do not want to answer you do not have to. Be sure to record your name and password for the next time you log on. (If you are like me you will forget after a few minutes!)

Each time you log in to the chat page you will need to identify the plug-in option you are using for IChat. If you are at home you have more options then if you are using a computer in a campus laboratory (supervised by CIS). If you are home you can download the IChat plugin. This will be handled automatically the first time you enter the chatroom and your browser has not been accessorized for chat. After the downloading and installing the plugin everything is pretty simple. However, if you are not on your own computer and you are using a CIS computer you must select JAVA (for users behind a firewall). Then everything should work.

When you are in the College of Arts and Sciences Chat room select Introductory Chemistry CHEM1225 in the list of courses. If I'm in the chat room you will see my name (jgelder) there.
